What is an Axle Shaft?

The Axle Shaft (also known as a “Drive Axle”) is a metal rod that takes the torque from the transaxle/differential (depending on 2wd/4wd) and distributes it to the wheel.

How much does a used axle shaft usually cost?

Things to keep in mind when buying

Make sure the inner and outer joint is still on the shaft and make sure the threads are not damaged and it does not appear to be bent.

Installation Tips

We recommend new boots and packing before  installation if possible.

Ongoing maintenance

No maintenance really required unless the boot gets a hole in it. They typically will start ‘clicking’ when they are going bad over time.
